Christian Patenaude Sensei, 3rd dan Christian Patenaude Sensei began the practice of the martial arts (Aïkido, Karate and Judo) in 1979 with Patrick Augé Sensei (Shihan - master teacher) at the CEGEP of the Outaouais. He was promoted to black belt in 1985 and since has taught aïkido at the University of Ottawa, at the CEGEP of the Outaouais and since 1991 in Montréal. He currently holds the rank of sandan (3rd dan) in Yoseikan Budo given to him by the International Yoseikan Budo Federation (IYBF - north american division). As well, he holds a black belt (shodan) in Shotokan Karate since 1997 and continues to study this discipline. Christian Patenaude Sensei is the founder of the aïkido clubs of the CEGEP of Old Montréal and the CEGEP Edouard-Montpetit. These clubs offer evening classes at beginner and intermediate levels. The clubs count more than 85 students of diverse ages and cultures. Some are students in the CEGEP schools, others come from various professionnal environments. The Granby club is also affiliated to Sensei Christian Patenaude through Sensei Bernard Monast (Nidan), who has known Sensei Patenaude since his early beginnings in 1979. Christian Patenaude Sensei has also participated in many seminars taught by Patrick Augé Sensei, today based in Los Angeles, California. Patrick Augé Sensei as well as his wife Sensei Kaoru Sugiyama are very active in the aïkido community. He has also participated in several dozen camps in Ottawa, Los Angeles, Toronto as well as in Shizuoka (Japan) at the dojo of master Minoru Mochizuki in 1990, 1992, 1995 and 1997. Christian Patenaude Sensei also holds a professional engineering license from the Quebec Order of Engineers and a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Ottawa since 1987. |
